Fins & Things is one of Moab’s classic off-road trails and a fantastic way to experience the red-rock landscape from behind the wheel of a side-by-side.

The trail takes you across sandstone fins, slickrock and rolling desert terrain with incredible views in every direction. It offers plenty of fun driving without requiring the extreme technical experience of some of Moab’s more difficult trails.

  • Location: Sand Flats Recreation Area, Moab, Utah

  • Length: ~9–9.5 miles (loop split by Sand Flats Road)

  • Difficulty: 4–5/10 (moderate)

  • Terrain: Slickrock • Sandstone • Rocky Terrain • Steep Sections

  • Time: 2–4 hours depending on stops

  • Direction: One‑way only, marked with white symbols/stegosaurus icons

  • Fees: Sand Flats entry $5/day per vehicle

  • Best For: Couples, Families, Groups, Intermediate Drivers

  • Highlights: Famous sandstone "fins," steep slickrock climbs, panoramic Moab scenery, and views toward the La Sal Mountains
